This is great. Do you work with SHORPY? I have perused that site many, many times.
Hi Walter...

Yes, I sometimes venture over and see what interesting images I could play with...always something there......

It is a great site indeed.

WOW! You've topped your always excellent work! So many colors, faces, etc. Wish the original photographer had arranged the ladies so that 2 of them didn't have pots on their heads! :p

Excellent. That must have been a huge amount of work.

A challenge - what is the photo you can find which is hardest of all to make colour?
Thanks Richard...

I think that must go to New York Mulberry Street Mahnattan 1900 although this was a close second...

These are amazing. I got a pointer to this research paper from Google research in my mail yesterday, thought you might be interested in it as it’s about coloring old photos. https://arxiv.org/pdf/2012.12261.pdf
Thanks so much Reno...

I had a quick look at the research paper but to be honest, soon got lost....need to sit down and read it slowly to understand I think....

I use colouring with layers (lots of them) so I can then put adjustment layers above each to adjust individually......it takes a lot of time but I find it easier...

Many thanks for the link which I will have a proper look at

Best wishes Ray
