The first one is the winner...

#2 has that slight head turn and the background (particularly behind the bird's head) isn't quite as smooth as #1.

All nice, but I prefer the first one. I like that the reds are not oversaturated.

yea I agree but for me it's mostly the head turn
I was shooting the ponys when this guy literally walked in front of me and it was a tight squeeze since I had the 500 on

I'm with Glenn Randy, #1 does it for me. Oh those big Nikon primes, it just doesn't get any better. That little D7100 is sure sweet :smile:.
