Having been cold and tired when i attended last year, i said I'd never go to Wales again to stand in a forest and watch a car go passed at 120 mph then try and capture it in a good enough way that i would be happy with my photos..So as soon as this year's tickets were released, i booked hotels and bought tickets

I set out on Thursday afternoon for the 4 hours drive to the Snowdonia region of north Wales. Lots of traffic saw that turn in to 6 hours - in this area, there are no street lights - it really is dark dark

Friday morning and i went to Slate Mountain which was 10 minutes from my hotel. Lets just say, the weather wasn't looking promising

and that was before the horizontal rain started. But it cleared a little

Cool shots. .Really like the one 3 from the bottom.. Composition works really well wld it be possible to maybe get a bit more detail out of the fog? Not much but just to add a little bit of extra drama

    Thank you

That is just dull, overcast and featureless sky as opposed to fog I'm afraid. The conditions were rapidly changing

Really good stuff Damian. Being out there in wet, damp conditions when its only 5°C outside is downright miserable, but I think your shots told a good story of the weekend.

I'm off to the races bright and early Thursday morning. Looking forward to putting the cameras to use.

    Thanks Ian.

I was ( as usual ) not prepared for a country where it rains a lot, regardless of the season. I really should have brought waterproofs but didn't - you know you've messed up when you can wring your coat out within 10 minutes of getting to the stage and everything was still damp the following morning

Looking forward to seeing your shots (y)

I thought rain was the one thing Wales was famous for... Well other than sheep that is!

Not sure how accurate that is.. There are around 10million sheep in Wales compared to a population of around 3 million which wld put it around Iceland in that article.. I'm Welsh n certainly where I grew up they vastly outnumbered people.. Also Welsh Saltmarsh lamb is particularly good(y)

definately are a whole lot of sheep - I assume as they're marked that they are owned and not wild

Yes all owned n colour of marking says who by... Farmers often have grazing rites to allow them to graze on the open hills as well as in their fields

  14. I enjoyed these. The weather makes them more interesting.

Did you book your return trip for next year? ;)

  15. Nice set of action pics. I'm jealous. Wish I could have been there, despite the weather. I managed to watch some of it on TV but it is not the same.

not yet - the dates aren't announced at the moment but my brother-in-law has already said he wants to go. He went with me last year but due to ill health couldn't make it this time ( he is also tight so he slept in his car whilst i slept in a hotel )

Nice set. The misery was well rewarded.
