Even though we got 2" of snow this morning it was nice to see an Osprey at the lake.

It also would have been great if that stick wasn't in the way and I could've Photoshopped it out but there will be many more chances now that they're back.

What's going to be interesting is that there are two Geese occupying the nest that the Osprey built and have used for the past 2 years. Both Osprey are hanging out in the tree which is about 50yds from the tree the nest and Geese are in.

Very nice photo. The Ospreys are also returning to the Lower Columbia River and performing some nest repairs. Currently we are watching a Canada Goose that’s squatting on a traditional Osprey nest atop a River Marker Piling.

Did a quick check on the nest this morning and the Geese are still occupying it. It's only a matter of time before it comes to a head.

Beautiful Bird!
Thank you so much

Very nice shot.
Thanks Louie, fortunate for me there's a dirt road that runs at the same level as the nest so good eye level opportunities.

Here are the two Geese looking a bit concerned.

Nice shot. Osprey are nothing to mess with. Yesterday I saw 3 bald eagles in a tree about 100' from an osprey nest where the female has been incubating her eggs. The male and a male from an adjacent nest spent 10+ minutes dive bombing the eagles trying to convince them to hold their meeting elsewhere. The eagles didn't seem to want to leave, were intent on trying to steal a meal from the osprey. One of the osprey spotted a fish in the water below the tree with the eagles in it and after a couple of passes, grabbed the fish and flew right by the eagles with a look of defiance and kept his catch. Osprey 1 eagles 0.

Thanks, they can be quite entertaining to watch.

Lovely bird. But looks like it was doing its best to keep that stick between it and the camera. From a slightly different angle that would be and awesome perch.
Probably looking to get paid as a model.

That tree hangs out over the water. A better angle would have required either a boat, a drone, or for me to tread water. Lol
