Well a question on lens repairs.

Discussion in 'Lens Lust' started by Monterey Jack, Jun 28, 2007.

  1. Friend of my dads has 2 lenses he is willing to sell me. (he is going blind. old age).

1st one is a NIkon AF 35-70 2.8D that needs cleaning. has dust between the elements.

2nd one is a NIkon AF 80-200 ED2.8 that the autofocus wont work.

Question is. My guess its about $50ish to clean the 1st lens. Anyone have a relative guess what the cost would be to fix the autofocus on the 2nd one? Not looking for exact, just a ball park figure.

Dust between the elements doens't necessarily affect the image. Try it out before sending it off for a clean.

KEH has a place of their website where you can get a repair quote. I've had 2 or 3 lenses repaired/CLA'd there and they've done a good job at a reasonable price. If it's an AF-S lens, send it to Nikon.
