Very nice, I like what the 50 is producing so far.
Did you change the color balance at all? Some primes in the sigma camp have been slightly too warm for my taste, having a yellowish hue. The saturation in these shots appear spot on.
She is adorable and wow on the shots.
I may need to replace my 50 1.4 nikkor w/ this as I loved my 30 1.4 and my current 50 1.4 leaves a lot to be desired.
It's not lighting fast but it does well enough for a kid running around. But of course using just 1.4 and it's razor thin DOF it has done alright for me.
I have yet to shoot an image above 1.8 lol
Overall though the focus speed isn't as fast. I would rate it 7 out of 10 on focus speed.
I hear ya man! THanks for the thread Matthew. I like the idea of the Sigma so I can use my 77mm filters. BUT, i like the idea of the new 50mm for it's smaller size... Then I think: How often will I use a polarizer at 1.4 on a 50mm lens in low light???

(I should add this image looks really good color wise on my calibrated monitor, but on my iMac it looks kinda dull)
To be honest I really like this lens. If feels solid. I don't mind weight on a lens as I usually have to deal with a 5 pound lens anyways when shooting sports.
I like when I pick up a lens it feels solid. This lens passes that test for me. Its like a car door, you can tell a quality car IMHO by the feel of a car door when closing it. (OT I know but still)
Anyways af testing will come tomorrow as I said. This will be purely unscientific!
Ok so I have had a good amount of time with this lens.
I will try and rate it with a very mini review. Take it for what it is worth lol
Quality: 9 (just feels solid)
Image Quality: 8.5 (images are solid a little soft at 1.4 but nothing a little sharpening in PP can't fix. Once you get to 1.8 to 2 it is very sharp)
Focus: 7.5 to 8. (not the quickest lens focusing wise, but will get the job done. Does a good job in very tough lighting conditions, but just not fast fast)
Is the lens worth the money, without a doubt I believe this lens is worth the money.
The bokeh is simply gorgeous and the images it produces are on par with more expensive lenses on the market.
Late image for this thread to end it
