What are the dots saying?^^^

I've tried searching for the answer but can't find it.

So would some kind person please tell me what the coloured dots by some people's names are for?

I have a green one by my name. I've no idea how long its been there, or what it means, and I'm now feeling paranoid and stupid!

green means online grey means offline

I think it means you are using the system at the moment. Since you are using the system, your own one will be green on your computer.
