I'd love a 24-70 or 24-85 F4 with pro optics and build for ~$1K.

I'll probably just get the 24-85 F3.5-4.5 though, almost the same thing.

I want some f4 zooms that have near if not same IQ as the 2.8 trinities but priced at 800-1200.

I'd love to see a 35mm/1.4 AF-S (FX). Wouldn't mind additional fast primes as well.

EDIT: Oh, and a "cost-effective" FX wide zoom, 14-something mm, probably f3.5-xx would nicely fit into my kit as well.

I guess a lens I'd really like to see Nikon produce would be an FX version of the 18-200 as a fixed f/2.8 or maybe a f/2.8-3.5 or 4. That'd be a lens I could really put to good use and have some fun with... I was a little disappointed to read in Nikon's recent press release that despite some improvements, they decided to keep the lens in its current DX format.

I vote for a new 8mm 2.8 AIS, and the Nikkor 1200 F11 ED-IF AIS. These lenses and many more like Nikon used to make are long over due. Nikon used to be the kind of company that would make lenses at the lunatic fringe of the visual spectrum.

As others have written, an f4.0 range is needed.

And enough of the DX 18-xxx/5.6. The 35/1.8 is a nice taster but these need to be fleshed out as well. 58mm DX portrait, 9.5mm DX, 13.5mm DX, 50-135 f/2.8 DX ...

The 300/4 needs VR.

Because they sell like hot pancakes and are usually included as kit lenses.
Perhaps they will stop at the 18-105 unless they add VR to the 18-135 - not that they need to go there .
They have 18-55 , 18-70 , 18-105 , 18-135 , 18-200 - surely that's enough 'kit ' lenses for them to concentrate elsewhere - here's hoping .
If they absolutely insist on another one maybe they could just throw VR in the 18-70mm - that's a lens worth having .

Cut out the cheap plastic junk and remake the manual focus stuff. Sure all the tooling is gone and they would have to start from scratch.

A D40/60 that meters with manual lenses so I do not always have to carry a brick around.

How about a camera with interchangeable focus screens and a split image for 2.8 lenses instead of 5.6, and make the surrounding area matt so we can see whats going on.

My sentiments exactly.

i think a 400mm f3.5 or F4 would for about $2500 would make me buy that and 90% not worry about the 400 f2.8

i'd pay $2800 for a 400mm f3.5 pending if it very close to the 400 F2.8 IQ

once over $3000 mark it makes it near impossible for me to buy lol

18-200 F4 would be cool
