I thought it might be interesting to see what tripods are being used out there. I'm looking for a different one and thought this would be an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone.

So tell us what you are using or even show us a photo. And while were at it, how about your monopods.

This is the only photo I have of mine. A Quantaray QSX 9500 Tripod and a Bogen Manfrotto 681B/3229 Monopod

    Gitzo 3530LSV + BH-55

monopod is some crappy Manfrotto with a BH-B2 clamp.

Feisol CT-3401 plus Feisol CB50H ballhead [and a Feisol monopod that I don't use because the tripod is so darn convenient]
  6. Gitzo 1327 with a Markins tb-30 plate and a RRS BH55. The monopod is a cheap ProMaster with a pan & tilt head modded to include a Kirk A/S clamp
  7. Gitzo 3540 for my tripod. Decided between this and the 3530. The deciding factor was the shorter collapsed height odf the 3540.

My monopod is the Bogen 685B. Quickest set-up and easiest height adjustment.
  8. Sorry, no photo....
My tripod is a Manfrotto 3021BPRO, 322RC2 head
    Monopod: Manfrotto 680B/234

Gitzo 1325 + Kirk BH-1, a real solid combo which can handle most pro camera/lens combination.

I really need to quit procrastinating and get a quality tripid. They're just so damn confusing and expensive

Tripod - Slik Pro 700DX w/ Slik 800 ballhead and quick release plates - set up might be considered a bit heavy, but it's not too bad (I've hiked with it several times). Rock solid, very adjustable and very reasonably priced!

Monopod - Slik Lighty Pod III w/ Gitzo MH 1304 ballhead. It's a great stabilizer in crowded/cramped situations where a tripod would be a liability.
  12. A lightweight Velbon Sherpa Pro CF-435 for hikes, Sherpa Pro CF-640 for more demanding work. I use a Markins M10 ballhead on both.
  13. I'm using a Gitzo G1340 Mk2, with Burzynski ballhead and Novoflex QBase and leveling plate - see pic below.

This is a very stable combination but I am still searching for a leight weight hiking tripod.

Well, there are certainly some nice ones out there. I really like Harry's. Maybe I can work a trade out:biggrin:

    Thanks for posting everyone.
  16. Gitzo 3540XLS tripod with a Markin M10 ball head and the Wimberley Sidekick gimbal head.

I'm using a Gitzo G1258 carbon fiber tripod with a Markins M20 ball head.
  18. I have a Gitzo G1228 MkII (now called a GT2540), currently using an Amvona head while I'm saving my pennies for a Markins M20. I also have an Amvona CF monopod (that's where the head came from) with a Manfrotto 234 (Bogen 3232) swivel head and intgrated Kirk clamp.
