What's a "BB" (flash extender)?

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by bett, Apr 1, 2007.

  1. Hey,

I was just looking at some duck photos that Mike Mac took at Merrit Isle.
He said he was using a 300 f4 with a 1.4 TC. It looked as if his flash was
on the end of a boom, right next to Mr. Duckie!. He used an sb 800 with this "BB" gadget.

This could be just the thing i'm looking for. Could someone give me a starting point to do some more research. I'm quite interested.

    Thanks. RRRRRRRRR

Essentially a large Fresnel lens sticking out in front of your flash. Put your Sb800 on 1/1 manual, and you can melt plastic army men.
  5. COOL!, Now I don't need to bring matches when I go camping!

Make sure one of your buddies gets a shot of you starting a campfire with a Nikon flash. We'd love to see it!

It works, but bump it and it falls apart in your hand. Velcro holds it together - sort of. I quit trying to use mine for travel because of it's construction.
  8. Hi John,

Thanks for the input. It does Look like It might be a bit tender.

I took a chance and ordered one though. $36 at naturescapesdotcom.
(Even after reading Scotts "New Essay".)

I used to drive a '72 VW camper van. It was held together mostly by
duct tape and coat hangers. Back when I could barely afford a roll
of Kodacolor. I seem to be able to improvise pretty well when it comes
that sort of thing. Thanks for the heads-up though.

Hey, Joshua you think if i time it right, I can bounce my sb-600 off low
flying planes with that thing? You know, so it's not so harsh.

Found this link, could be helpful...

Thanks for all the help guys! RRRRRRRRRRRRR
