    I already have a nikkor AF 50 f/1.8 and a Tokina 12-24 f/4.
The nikkor 50 f/1.8 I can probably use without a flash but to get 2 or 3 people all together on the picture, dancing on the dancefloor I have to increase my shooting distance, and maybe there's not enough place to do that, I guess the 50 mm f/1.8 is great for pictures of the DJ. The Tokina can be used with a flash eventually.
Another option could be Nikkor AF 35 f/2D, or the Sigma 30 mm F1.4 EX DC HSM

PS : The Nikkor AF 28 f/1.4D is a "no go" b/c "too expensive"

Some advice is really appreciated :)

The 12-24 is certainly an option - especially at the long end. Another - albeit pricey - is the 28-70. I love this lens

    18-70 on a budget, 17-55 no budget.

  4. That's what The Beast is best at, Francis, but it's not too good if you're on a budget. I'll vote for the 18-70 plus an sb800.

  5. Francis...I have the 17-55 and absolutly love it. It is sharp and good contrast.

    Hope this helps,

I know this is a fantastic lens, but my budget doesn't allow it now, I'm looking at the Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 as a replacement for that Nikkor 17-55.
Not a real toplens but probably good enough to do the job I want :)
