    I don't think the guy realized what he was selling, since he was merely a photographer. He also sold a minty 28/1.4 for $700 to another guy.

    I got my 50 1.8 for free from my BIL.
  13. In Japan

    In Japan in Ginza (Tokyo) I scored a mint 35/1.4 AI-S for $420 :biggrin::biggrin: Good deal when you consider to get one new in Canada you need to spend more than $1000
  14. 28 1.4 afd, in excellent condition for 1300.... picked up here at the Cafe...
    the high prices that these lenses fetch is what always kept me from picking one up...
    excellent piece of glass.... definately a keeper...:smile:
  15. Last year i got a bagfull of stuff for $1450. 17-35, 105 Macro, 50 1.4, 300 F4, Nikon f100, MC 30, Manfrotto Art 055 professional tripod. It was a good day.
  16. Nikon 17-55/2.8 --> $809 - brand new, U.S. warranty, authorized dealer

    Tokina 90mm f/2.5 AI-S with 1:1 Macro Extender -- the legendary Bokina in awesome condition for $120. A similar set just sold on eBay for $399.

    Quantaray (Sigma) 24/2.8 -- very underrated lens, better than the Nikon 24/2.8 -- better than free. For $46 shipped, came with another lens I didn't want. Sold that lens for $60.

    How about not just lenses?

    Gitzo GT3541LS - $396, brand new, U.S. model.

    I have the same lens, and it's a gem, better than the Nikkor version. The AF can be a bit quirky at close distances though.

    An EX condition 75-150 E for $29. The guy had a sub-par photo on eBay so no one else placed a bid. Oh - and a 45mm pre-ai pancake for $79, which I ai'd and (regretably) later sold for more than double that.

  19. WOW! Best deal I've seen so far here.
  20. I bought a 80-200 AFS for $600 from someone that was moving to medium format. I used it for about 1 1/2 years and sold it for $1000. I essentially was paid to use a nice lens for some time. :)
