Thanks, Tri -- much appreciated! The river is of course still there, running in a fairly narrow channel, but the amount and size of above-water mudflats is astounding, especially since we have had a good monsoon season.

Very strange like this! You would expect that it hadn't rain for years!

The rain (and runoff from wildfires) causes the river to gather more silt, which it deposits along the bends, and so it carves a deeper but narrower channel.

The current is therefore very strong in places, and paddling upstream can be quite a workout!
