    Hi kevin,

Yea..I am real curious to see what I can do. My next dilema...a piece of glass...I really want the 28-70 2.8VR for landscape, etc, but feel for Bifs and other bird shots I should get at least the 300mm....hate to have to make this decision since I can only get one............
  7. Hmmm...that's a tough one. I know how hard it is to decide when you're on a budget.

If you get your cam Friday, maybe we should go out to Viera on Sat so you can give it a whirl! I think I'm having withdrawals!

*possibly* can go Saturday..I was going to head down to Boca Raton to see my daughters new home....I won't know till late Fri night...
  9. It seems to me you're already covered for BIFs with the 70-200 + 1.7X TC, but you don't have pro quality glass for the midrange. And the 28-70 can do BIFs, provided you can get close enough ;-).

  10. If I were you, I would get the 300mm first because until you are ready to spend the additional $1,350, you will continue to have the 18-70DX, which is expected to perform very well on D200. I don't own a D200 but the 18-70DX served me very well on my D2X for several months until I upgraded to 28-70/2.8. The images were tack sharp even wide open. Of course, CA was clearly present particularly at wide open but nothing that I couldn't fix in NC.

BTW, here is an example of 100% crop of an image shot handheld with D2X and the 18-70DX kit lens at 38mm and F/4.2 (which is wide open at 38mm) -

  11. Well..where of where can I get a D200? I want one too!!!

I saw this new (3:00 p.m. EST) ad for a D200 on Photonet:

    "Dennis Yu , Jan 06, 2006; 01:26 P.M.,
I have one brand new in the box Nikon D200 body for sell for $1841 + shipping (Europe or Asia OK) ($1699.99 + 8.25% tax, that's what I paid for). I'll take money order or paypal (please add 3% to the total). I'm fine with local pick-up in San Jose/South Bay area.

If anyone is interested, email me: weiyu99 at gmail dot com.

Thanks, Dennis (Expires Feb 05, 2006)"

I don't have any relationship with the seller, but it might be worth checking out if you really must have a D200 now.

  13. Glenn, the problem is, you wind up paying $1841 for a d200 without a warranty. Given that there are always problems with a newly introduced camera, I don't think getting one without a warranty would be very smart. Jmho.

There are plenty of D200`s in the UK but in kit form, with the 18-70 Lens (?)

Calumet UK had 14 in stock the last time i asked.

Anyone know a store that has them?? available to order now???
  16. Well..I gave up on the camera lust and went for another D1X. Another fantastic camera..just not as shiney and new. Maybe I might make enough money this year to be ready for the D3H
