The hotshoe looks to be just plastic on the pocketwizard so what cord will I need to connect that to my D300? Any help would be great.

Jordan, it will just slide into you hotshoe just like a speedlight.

  3. There is a contact in the Pocket Wizard shoe that allows the camera to trigger it. No cord required.
  4. The above methods if you're using it to trigger lights etc.

Or are you looking to trigger your D300 shutter via the PW?

If you are trying to trigger the shutter of your camera yes you need a cable but to trigger flashes no just hot shoe..
