Which film to develop next???

Hey all,

I didn't shoot film for a while due to many reasons and some situations in my life, but i always have that bug to shoot more or process more, but i always feel lazy to do, so if you were in my situation what you will do? As you know i got busy to read a lot about LF and didn't shoot more with it yet [only 5 sheets so far], and with my dig MF i also didn't shoot much to lust for that DMF, but i still keep thinking a lot about 120 format even with other formats i have.

Now the question is, if you were in my place what you will do in the following situation about film:

I have 6 B&W films waiting in the fridge for about 3-6 months, i processed one by lab just to test them and i got blank result [could be that the film didn't rewind in the camera or this film was used by my kids who don't know how to exposed at all, maybe they didn't use it even], 3 TMY[400], 1 HP5+, 1 Acros, 1 FP4+, i feel there is one more film with TMY is not done or exposed properly so i don't want to have the risk to use the lab, and i don't want to waste time on it if i don't know which, the problem is i forgot the shots taken by all of those films, but i am sure 100% that i have better shots with HP5+ and FP4+ and Acros because i use those films mostly on my serious shots even test, but for fun and not sure tests i always use TMX and TMY and sometimes Tri-X, so which film i should start to develop? I will not develop more than 3 films within 1-2 weeks now, i will be busy and not in mood.

Another point to talk about is the developer, for now the only read developers i have are Ilfosol 3 and D-76, i have XTOL/ID-11/Diafine in boxes waiting, but i will not use those later until i run out my D-76[i don't care much about Ilfosol 3, i use it rarely only with slow films], so which film of above i should go with which 2 developers ready here?

I am not planning to shoot more 120 films until i finish what i have waiting in the fridge, and i may start to test new films later as i know the result of TMX/TMY/Tri-X/HP5+/Acros/PanF+ already, they are all amazing and gave me amazing results, at ASA100 i prefer much Acros, and for ASA400 i like HP5+ and TMY more but i don't know why many people prefer Tri-X more, i don't do much push/pull.

Throw the HP5+ in the tank next :)

Developing film was one of the most enjoyable parts of shooting MF for me. I'd set the timer, turn on the TV and just agitate while watching.

It will be very difficult to watch TV and agitate, mostly if there is something interesting on TV, i may exceed the time of developing and forget to agitate or dump the developer on time, hehehehe.

By the way, i did a small mistake when i saw that there are 3 TMY films out of 6, in fact they are 2 TMY[TMAX400] and 1 Plus-X 125, the rest are the same.

I develop with HC-110 and luckily the developer and film are both so forgiving that an extra few seconds here or there won't matter all that much ;)

I did shoot another roll of TMAX 400 for test, to develop it by another way than the manufacturer data sheet of developing TMAX with D76, i finished developing it, got the results but i can't judge at all if the developing was fine successful or not good enough.

... So you vote me to go with Arcos first and Ilfosol 3 combo?
Yes.

I don't like tmax's hard edges and steep mid-tone curve, but some people do. It must be that I only ever developed tmax in hc10, because Jen, my photo-teacher friend, swears by tmax in tmax developer.

Post your result so we can see what you are talking about.

I scan the film and from what i can see, it is..... WOW.
Maybe some will not like the results, but for me treating film so bad and developing not as same data sheet of manufacturer, only the time is the same.
