Whitby Abbey

Discussion in 'Landscapes, Architecture, and Cityscapes' started by HAVOC, Oct 28, 2005.

  1. Took this photo of Whitby Abbey in the summer, it was founded in 657 AD ! Amazingly well preserved considering it's age.

I love places like that.Great image and color.

It looks similiar to Six Sisters abbey near Dumfries, Scotland.
  3. Real interesting image and to think that it dates back to 657 AD. Thanks for sharing

You picked a beautiful day to be there!

I was in Whitby back in 1987. I found the place very interesting. I loved the smell of the sea and the charm of the old city.

I have some unscanned prints of the Abbey and the harbour with the boats on their keels at low tide.
Great memories Thanks for reminding me!
