Why does 15mm f3.5 still command a good price?

I am wondering why Nikon 15mm f3.5 can still command a good price (at least $700) on E-bay while there are other alternatives like newer Nikon 14mm f2.8 or more flexible Nikon 12-24mm f2.8. I understand that images taken by 12-24mm could have distortion which can be fixed in SW, right? Did I miss anything?
