Lol, thanks Frank! I found out just how poor and old the D70 is when I try to shoot sports. Come summer and it will have been a full year with it; wow, what a fantastic learning experience I had. I'm eager to go forward ...

Beautiful shots. It's cool the way the wings are blurred but the water is crystal clear and sharp in #5. And the bills on Orville and Wilbur appear to be exact opposite curves.

I must have been replying and missed your post Andy. That's a really nice compliment, thanks so much! Those Great Egrets have quite the wingspan, once they spread 'em, all of a sudden, you're not as short on glass. :biggrin:

Thanks Hunter! I appreciate the observances that you've made. As to the opposing bills, the downturned bill one is a Whimbrel and the slightly upturned one, a Marbled Godwit. They were chasing each other around and was entertaining to watch!

Thanks Thomas! These guys were cracking me up how they were running around with raised wings. I assume they are being territorial over the feeding spots, but not sure.

Just in case you might find it interesting, my observance in our locality has been that I tend to see Marbled Godwits, Willets and/or Dowitchers in loose groups, sometimes involving many individuals. However, within these groups, there tends to be only one Whimbrel or one Black-bellied Plover hanging about; I've yet to see these latter species as a larger group of their own kind.
