Well done Darren, I still have no idea how any of you capture headers.  I need to pay my dues and shoot soccer much more often.

If you really want to know Frank, it's pretty easy.

Goalie has ball, I look (not through the LCD) at players facing the goal kick (almost all of these are goal kicks). as soon as the goalie kicks the ball I look at their faces and movement - it's pretty easy to tell where the ball is going - then I frame in LCD and fire away Ch burst from the moment they start jumping/flinching. Usually have 2-3 seconds with a kick.

NOW, the hardest thing for these girls are that they just hate heading the ball, so, very headable shots are often just let drop to the foot.

The hardest thing is keeping the head/ball in frame obviously as they jump vertically

Try that anyhow, you can't miss really.

Thanks for the tip Darren, I will certainly give that a try. I would also benefit by learning a bit more about the game and it's strategies.

  9. These are great shots. I love the anticipation on the faces in #5.

Thanks Kees, usually I hit DEL when the ball's not in the frame, but you're right, there was a look I liked in this one.
