  1. I got out my old F-601 out of its box after a few years . I was holding it enjoying it's weight and the feel of it when I opened the back as
    nd saw the folowing damage!

I guess one of my children had decided to have a look as well. Is this worth getting repaired ? Is this something I could attempt to fix mself ?

I have a D40, so if I was to use this, It would be a nostalgia trip more than anything.

Knowing how much F601 and the like go for ebay UK I wouldn't think this would be a worthwhile repair job, if you want to shoot film you can pick up some pretty decent film bodies for less than £100 in the used market. You could probabally get a new F601 for less than £50.

That looks like pretty serious damage to me.
  3. I suspect you are right. I thought it might look worse than it was. It is a shame because I liked that camera.

Thanks for looking and taking the time to reply.

That's not much if that's all you're seeing. Call Nikon and see if they can fix it. At the same time tell them to clean it up...it's still a great camera. It's worth cleaning it up if it were mine.
