I've had mine for about three years. Just now coming off the ramen.

It is my most used and useful lens. It doesn't do any one thing in a spectacular fashion but it does pretty much everything very well. It was a last minute decision for me to purchase the 17-55 instead of some others and, as it turns out, it was a great decision. I think you will find it living on your cam.

BTW, it matches up VERY well with the 70-200, just a killer pair.

Excellent! The 17-55mm is on my wish list, I just recently purchased the 70-200mm VR.....it's an awesome piece of glass. It's a heavy piece of gear, but you won't be disappointed with the results.

It does do one thing great;

It becomes the lens least likely to leave your camera. It is the best lens for events, landscapes, and portraits together. I don't think there is another lens that has the do it all (at a pro level) ability of this bad boy.

I got mine just a couple of months ago with my 70-200. My subs cannot figure out why cash flow is slow

I have along way to go to know it, but I already love it.

I currently have a 28-70mm f/2.8, which is an incredible lens, but I am thinking to trade it for a 17-55mm. What do you think?

I would never give my 28-70 away. It's such a good lens!
If you talk about reach, just get a 12-24 for supplement.

I used to have a 28-70, but sold it and got a 17-55. I never regretted that decision. 17-55 just seems to be a better match for the 1.5x crop factor.

I tried out the 28-70 extensively before deciding on the 17-55. If I was buying for FF the 28-70 would be the choice but I hope my D200 will be around awhile.

For me, the range of the 17-55 is much more useful on the 1.5 crop.
