Yikes! Yongnuo flash heads firing at will!

Sep 13, 2007
Northern VA suburb of Washington, DC
I was outdoors using my Yongnuo YN560-TXII controller off-camera to fire a Yongnuo YN560 III speedlight also off-camera. The speedlight started firing rapidly beyond my control, sometimes about 10 times in maybe three seconds. I was holding the controller in my hand at the time and wondered if my body might have been generating static electricity. So, I set the controller on my deck's railing made of wood and the speedlight continued to rapidly fire without me doing anything. I turned off the controller and speedlight and turned both on again. Same behavior. I changed to a different YN560 III speedlight and it did the same thing. After awhile, the second speedlight stopped doing that and fired only when I fired the controller.

Any ideas what caused this? Do I likely have a bad controller?

This is the first time I've had any issues with my five pieces of Yongnuo flash equipment.
