My son has been playing organized youth football since he was six years old. He will be entering high school in the fall and therefore will be ineligible to play anymore at the youth level. Last Saturday was the finale of his youth days, with him playing in the spring season championship game. His team was undefeated for the spring season and also won the championship game 27-0. My son plays right tackle on offense. Here are a few pix from a couple of this seasons games. All images taken with my good old, long in the tooth, but still reliable D200:
1. This is my son. His team was kneeling, respectfully, while the other team's players were announced
2.
3. OK, you tell me, who is getting the better of whom in this shot...? The mom of the boy in
the blue jersey seems to think her son got the better of mine. Hmmmmmm......
4.
5. Zeroing in to take out the linebacker (#20)
6. He sometimes lines up on the defensive side of the ball to play defensive end
7. My son doing his job toward creating a "hole" for the running back to run through
8. "The Trauma Unit"...thats the nickname of his partners in crime, the offensive line. At 250lbs, my son is the lightest on the line. That line causes paaaaain!!!!
9. The championship trophy and my son. My son is 6'2" tall. Thats a mighty big trophy!
10. Its not the greatest image, but even though my boy mainly plays offense, he still LOVES to tackle.
I didn't realize the coach had sent him in on special teams for the kickoff, but I grabbed camera just in time to get him making his last tackle at the youth level. He wouldn't let me post these pix unless I included this one.
Youth ball was great, but I see even greater things for him in high school. I can't wait!!
