Youth Soccer

Discussion in 'Sports Photography' started by mike mac, Sep 1, 2008.

  1. I have come to the conclusion tht you have to shoot what is available at certain ages when it comes to sports. U9 boys will not give you a lot of one on one play, headers or a ton of isolated action. They are not at that level and the opportunity are rare so you must make do with what is offered.
Here are a few shots from Saturdays games With the D300 and the 300 2.8 with 1/4 tele
#1 thought the jub with the goalie lying prone told a story here
#2 Similar to one Randy just posted
    #3Anticipating the shot
#4 My try at B&W ( I am not very good at conversions)
    #5 Another jube shot
#6 At this age these throwins are always available
#7 My only chance at a header and missed it
    #8 The stretch
#9 Some one on one action

Nice shots as always Mike great faces and exposure
At this Age unless there is a prodigy on the field-- one on one action is far and in between but it's a step up from small youth sports which is Chaos ball

Thanks for your insight guys, I've attempted to shoot soccer and have little confidence in my ability to shoot it with reasonable success. I look forward to shooting some soccer this week or next and I will concentrate on shooting what is available. As always Mike, your photography is inspiring.
  5. Words to shoot by for sure. Seems to me there is 1 maybe 2 who stand out, so far I have been trying to concentrate on them. Make the best of your opportunities.

it's so true..... Mike as per your usual, great stuff ....
  7. mike, your observations about U11 soccer are very interesting
the HEADER shot actually works fine here... even if 1/2 the ball is missing
the look on their faces is what "makes" that picture for me

    great shots here
the IQ is outstanding... of course

thanks for sharing them with us
