I've been there, these are great shots, it's really about a special place as there is so much contrast in these areas
  4. I've been to both as well, and these are great shots.

The Grand Canyon is breathtaking to behold. However, photographing it is a challenge. It's so huge in scope, it's really impossible for a photograph to take it all in, and provide a fell for how large it really is..

Great shots - for the first two shots of the second set - does the formations have a name?
  12. Breathtaking shots!! I want to travel more :T

I don't know their names, sorry.

This photo (sort of) shows picture 1 of the 2nd set in context with it's surroundings.
The location is 300 ft approx after the parking lot from Checkerboard Mesa, heading into the park.
If you look up to your right, you'll see some weird rock formations.
The mesa in the background, obviously isn't Checkerboard mesa, but the road heading West into the park is in front of it.

Picture 2 of the 2nd set, is about half way between Checkerboard Mesa and the tunnel.
And is on your left, when travelling to the tunnel.
This picture shows a wider shot and give you an idea what to look for when driving.

I believe that the north rim of the Grand Canyon is probably one of the best areas for photography that I've been

Great shots! I'm going to both areas in mid October. Any suggestions for lenses?
