We have visited the highest mountain in Germany - the Zugspitze.
The summit is 2962m high - aprox. 9000ft.

(1) We went up with a cog railroad and the last part with a smaller (normal size) cablecar.

(3) Going up to the summit you'll notice the Schneefernerhaus, a scientific institution. The summit is to the right.

We went down with the new gigantic cable car. The exciting thing - it has a glass bottom...

The summit is a tourist trap, but worth visiting it once in a lifetime.

Enjoy

Wonderful set, Klaus. Sure brings back memories of a trip I made there in the early 1990's, while visiting the area with colleagues from the University of Munich Forestry College. I do not remember a glass bottom cable car, but I remember shooting several rolls of slide film, all at the wrong ASA (ISO) setting, and got back about a 100 over-exposed slides. Probably still have them in the basement somewhere.

Great series!

Beautiful set .... I'd love it but my wife would absolutely die on the spot if she had to ride a glass bottom anything from that height ...
Oh, I think she can do.
The glass bottom is only a little part of the floor.
Or you'll take the cog train and the old cable car.

Kind regards
Klaus

Hey Nick,
the glass bottom cable car is brand new.
Time to use PS on your old slides... ;)

Kind regards

Nice photos. So much so that next time I'm in the region I'll hope to visit Zugspitze myself. Haven't been there yet. Thanks for sharing!
