A friend of mine was using his d2x for the first time last weekend.
A strange problem occured for wich i don't have an answer.

He was taking pictures and the looked good and detailled on the camera screen.
But after opening them in capture the looked much to dark. 1 to 2 stops underexposed. Lots of lost details in the dark parts.

I can't remember having this problem with mine. Alos the thumbnails wich can be seen on his computer looked much darker than on the camera screen
The strange thing is that the pictures looked better when opened with PS CS2

The lcd screen setting was in 0 so should be good.
When he changed the setting of the lcd in -2 they looked the same as when opened in capture. Is there a setting wich can be changed in capture ??
he is working with windows

This were all picture taken in dark situations

Any suggestions ??
thanks for the help

i believe, when opening in nc, no corrections until you make manual changes

ps may do some auto correction, are you shooting raw or jpeg

many photos will need some correction after opening, some contrast , brightness, color

lcd is really not perfect, most experienced with d2x, use lcd for histogram, to judge exposure and some look at photo to see if they got the shot, is it in focus or blurry.

what settings were on camera, d2x has many settings, there probably is nothing wrong other than, the settings need tweaking.

you and your friend should check settings in camera and nc-ps

hope this helps

looks like you have been dropped from pbase, your images are gone!

It is typical on the D2X that the LCD is bright at the default setting. When set at -2 it usually represents the exposure more closely, but is harder to see in sunlight. However, why use the LCD to judge exposure? That's what the histogram is for.

Never use the LCD to judge exposure

You can at best use the LCD to look at the histogram. But never look at the picture itself to judge exposure. It will invariably give you wrong impression. This is true pretty much for any of Nikon's DSLR - not just D2X.

Thanks all for the replies.

The problem is i did NOT have the same problem with my d2x. In fact i did not have had this problem with my s2/s3/d2h/d2hs.

How is it possible that the lcd shows Details wich can not be seen in capture without set exposure up to 2+ (not 0.2 but 2+ !!)

Is your friend's Nikon Capture and PS using the same colour profile?

If not, then that might explain the discrepancy when viewed on both applications.

I find -2 for the D2X LCD works best, same as the D100. :)
