Still waiting for shoe to drop, maybe I should try Quordle again. Best recent guesses. Almost got an eagle again,

Wordle 249 3/6

⬜?⬜⬜?
⬜????
?????

Birdie, Eagle, Par, Birdie, Birdie last 5 days. When I was a golfer, would have loved that card.

I asked this before, anyone playing in Hard Mode? To follow the golf analogy, it's like playing from the back tees with the pins tucked behind bunkers. You can still choose your best first word, but as you get letters it really makes you work.

An interesting twist is to use the word from yesterday as first word today. If you want to be more challenged. :)

My wife and I always play in hard mode. I don't find it any harder anyway. It makes sense to choose the best word that does a good job of splitting the possible solutions in two equal parts, but is also a possible solution.

What doesn't make sense is that she is consistently better than me. Sometimes we score the same, but very often she does it in one less. I suspect that women are naturally better at this game.

I tend to use a different word many times to further isolate vowels and consonants, but that is why until this recent stretch I was usually a par player. Talking about and sharing on the cafe, has made me aware of how many guesses. I am concentrating more, go figure, lol. :)

Today was my 10th to play this game. I seem to be settling in on a pattern of birdies.

@Butlerkid and @Walter:
Probably best not to post screenshots with a completed grid here. If you use the share button, it just shows the colored boxes without letters, so it won't spoil the fun for those who have not solved it.
I agree - and please remember people here are on different timezones. If I published mine like that most of you would have your day spoiled!

I first became aware of wordle when someone texted me the typical shared screen for a word they solved in three guesses. They thought I was playing and said "can you beat this"? I stared at those green and yellow boxes for maybe 20 seconds wondering why I couldn't even figure out what I was supposed to do...
