I am almost positive we will see a d400 but I'm not sure what there is at that link that makes you think so:confused:

If you read the short article, you will see: "We're not convinced many users will spend so much money to gain a little reach over their existing kit lens, leading us to suspect there may be a body on its way that will match its enthusiast-friendly ambitions."

That's what got me curious. And now Thom Hogan is wondering the same thing.

Well for me the D7100 price has fallen a lot recently it's well below it's intro price. So that's about £799 odd right now in the UK, that def leaves space for a crop model above that, so yes I think there will be a D400.

On the other hand one wonders if many folks would rather go full frame at the expect price range of a D400, one for sports/action/wildlife shooters maybe.

I love these threads, it is like reading my horoscope.
"The replacement for the D300s will be announced soon. Or later."
"A new camera will feature in your life next month, should you wish it".
"You will face a difficult financial choice which may impact on your relationships with your close relatives."

As someone who has (had?) been waiting a long time for a D400, I'm no longer so interested... I'm eyeing full frame now (and I'll probably buy used). Too much $$ lost playing the upgrade game... the D7100 is a very capable camera once one learns to live with its limitations.

Did anyone else just hear that giant bubble pop???

Nikon officially released plans to release a new "entry level DSLR" which is apparently their plan since Nikon1 fell on its face in Europe and North America and compact sales numbers are in free fall.

So there's the new crop frame DSLR everyone's been waiting for.... :frown:

Man that D800 that I got in lieu of the D400 sure has produced some sweet shots in the past year

Ran into buffer limitations last weekend really for the first time, shooting rugby. Wanted to keep shooting a guy that had broken through the line, but couldn't as I had taken a lot of him approaching the defence line. Was just trying to get bursts of 2 or 3 after that.

Buffer, frame rate and AF-on button are the main differences to me.

You can set the AE-L/AF-L button to do the same thing, but you'll loose any AE-L/AF-L + thumb wheel functionality.
