Oh Darn

Have been awaiting Nikon's debut of the D90, some say it will be official at 3:01 pm pacific time today. BUTTT, the specs make me a bit less interested. I like the idea of the movie mode as it would be nice for some bird shooting I do (not a big need though). Unfortunately 24 fps is problematic if you live in the US. We have 60hz mains and tv's are 30 fps because of that. Soooo, a 3:2 pull down is needed to show a 24 fps movie on a HDTV here...jerky action. Too bad, but is should work out fine for you Brits!!!

Still, it is probably better than getting a D80 at a close out price...presuming it IS being discontinued....have outgrown my D40x already

So how is the D300 different from this D90?! Looks the exact same at first glance. Am I missing something?

Metal body. Mirror lock up. Higher FPS. Can use advanced remote releases. Shooting banks. Custom setting banks. Meters with manual lenses. Intervalometer I assume.

If you drop it, it all the same!

Not true!!! I dropped my D300 on the taxi way at an air show. The battery came out and the LCD protector came off. Put the battery back in and popped on the protector. Turned camera off and on and shot the rest of the day without a problem. Try that with the D80 and you will have plastic all over the place.
